EndoCert® certification for More Than 10 Years

After its initial certification in 2013, the Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery department was again certified as a Level III Endoprosthetics Center by EndoCert® in June 2023.

After its initial certification in 2013, the Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery department was again certified as a Level III Endoprosthetics Center by EndoCert® in June 2023.

The EndoCert® certification, issued by the renowned certification institute ClarCert, is the world’s first certification scheme for healthcare institutions performing joint replacements. It assures consistently high quality in joint replacement and provides continuous improvement in the area of endoprosthetics. The certification was based on the quality criteria stipulated by the German Society for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery (DGOOC), the Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (DGOU) and the Professional Association for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (BVOU). The criteria are recognized nationwide.

The standards defined by these expert committees ensure the highest level of quality, specialization and competence in the area of joint replacement surgery for patients and contribute to successful treatments.

Continuous Quality Control

The Endoprosthetics Center is obliged to continuously control and meet various quality indicators stipulated by the professional societies. The quality indicators listed below, and several more, are collected, analyzed, and reviewed annually by two external specialists approved for the certification scheme.

The awarded certificate demonstrates to patients that the Endoprosthetics Center at Nardini Klinikum dedicates time and resources to achieve excellence in the area of artificial joint replacement for osteoarthritis of the hip or knee and meets the quality requirements defined by the professional society.

Quality indicators

  • Minimum procedure volumes must be met to assure quality.
  • The center has at least two main/senior surgeons who perform a prescribed minimum number of procedures annually.
  • During every surgical procedure a main/senior surgeon serves either as the operating surgeon or the first assistant.
  • Pre- and post-operative X-ray images are taken in order to confirm the diagnosis and to assess the quality of the implantation.
  • Pre-operative implant planning is performed using special software and digital X-ray images.
  • The implant position in the bone is assessed using specific measurement parameters.
  • Post-operative and long-term complications are recorded and evaluated.
  • Patient satisfaction monitoring is in place.
